Today's Date:
Welcome to our Newsletter...

Hooray! It’s the beginning of March! Spring is almost here! Well, sort of…we still have about three weeks to go before the official date, and March weather can be all over the place. However, please allow a note of anticipation to grow as we look towards warmer days, sunshine, and the breezes that make spring a great time of year!

Your thoughts may have already turned to your personal or family vacation for the year, and we invite you to go to www.GreatVacationGuide.com and spend some time checking what’s available “…down the shore” in the areas we cover.
Who knows? You might discover new places to stay, eat and have fun! Look at the photo galleries and check out the favorite photos supplied by Great Vacation newsletter subscribers, too! They’ll help you get in the mood to hit the beach this year.

Speaking of vacation preparation…you know how we always urge you to send this newsletter to everyone you know because it’s free (and to everyone else, as well), but in this newsletter we’re giving you the opportunity to link to something we’ve developed to help you (and everyone else) plan the best vacation ever. It’s called our Lodging Guide, and all you have to do is (click here) for the help you need in choosing the perfect place to spend your great vacation!

You’ll find things to see and do, places to stay and dine, the entertainers coming to Atlantic City, information on shopping, real estate and a whole lot more in this issue. So, please share us with your friends. We’re free, and that’s a great value no matter where you are or what time of year it happens to be. Join us as we look forward to spring, and keep thinking, “A great vacation is just around the corner!”

Sincerely

La Mer Beachfront Inn

In French “La Mer” means “The Sea.” In Cape May, La Mer means “exquisitely complete in every way,” because La Mer Beachfront Inn is brand new in every sense of the word. Fully re-done, La Mer is a beautifully appointed facility offering all the amenities you could ever want.

To add even more to your happiness and satisfaction, the award-winning 4-star Pier House restaurant and Wine Bar is located on the same property, providing you with the best in dining, from a romantic dinner-for-two, your favorite cocktails, to full-scale special dinners for corporate and private gatherings.

The Artist’s Corner

We mentioned a few months ago that a group of artists came together to discuss the planning for an event called “The Point of Porches” in Somers Point, New Jersey. The same people gathered in Somers Point recently, and this time they were joined by a group of poets who will add their work to the project.

The porches that will be depicted in the artistic project will be selected by a lottery drawing, and the painters will spread out through the community in July of this year to do the painting.

The formal public display and reception will be held August 10 and 11 at a gallery in Somers Point, and we will highlight the event prior to those dates. In addition to the paintings, the work of the poets will be displayed, as well as comments by the owners of the homes (and the porches that were painted), as well as comments from the artists themselves.

We can’t help wondering that if an artist accidentally drips paint on a porch at the time of the painting of the porch if the porch may end up being painted twice? (This is an example of a “literary” joke. Please don’t try this at home. It’s O.K. if we make bad puns).

For Your Information...

Seaside Park, New Jersey

Permanently settle in1874, Seaside Park was incorporated as Sea Side Park in 1898, and later the name was changed to Seaside Park,  dropping the space between “Sea” and “Side” when a clerk inadvertently wrote the name without the space. Apparently the people liked a two-word name, and it has been designated such ever since.

Occupying about 3/4ths of a square mile in area, with a fixed population of about 2,200, the town is located on the Barnegat Barrier island in Ocean County below Seaside Heights and above South Seaside Park, an unincorporated section of Berkeley Township.

With 1.5 miles of beautiful shoreline along the Atlantic Ocean, Seaside Park has a small boardwalk to the north that’s devoted to games, food vendors and the Funtown  Pier Amusements, and the area below Funtown is primarily residential in character. The shore is lined for its entire length along the ocean with dunes and tall grass.

Seaside Park, New Jersey, home to one more of the many New Jersey coastal boardwalks. For more information call 732-793-0234, or (click here).
